On Repeat: Psalm 103 – Remember He Never Changes

Change is one of the few things we can be certain of in life. Jobs change, families change, relationships change, seasons change, and sometimes life can change in a moment. In the final section of Psalm 103, David reminds us that while our lives are temporary and constantly changing, God never changes.

Psalm 103:15–22 contrasts the shortness of our lives with the everlasting nature of God. We may be like grass or a flower that quickly fades, but God is unchangeable, unshakable, everlasting, and sovereign. His love remains steadfast, His promises remain true, and His kingdom rules over all.

Because God never changes, we can trust what He has spoken about us and trust that His Word remains true. His unchanging love gives us hope, security, and confidence even when life feels uncertain. We are reminded that the difficult things we face in this life do not last forever, and that our lives are ultimately anchored in an eternal God.

The Psalm ends where it began—with praise. David calls angels, His servants, all of creation, and finally his own soul to “Bless the Lord.” As followers of Jesus, we are challenged to keep turning our hearts and minds toward the Lord, especially when change, fear, anxiety, or difficult circumstances come.
