Family Values Part 2: Make Faith Part of Everyday Life

What does it actually look like to make God first in our homes? In this Family Values message, we look Deuteronomy 6 to discover that faith was never meant to be something we practice only on Sundays. God calls us to make faith part of the everyday rhythms of our homes, conversations, decisions, struggles, and relationships.

We are challenged to make time for God and look for everyday opportunities to point our families toward Jesus. Whether through prayer, worship, reading the Bible, serving together, or simply inviting God into the decisions and challenges we face, our goal is not to create a perfect family, but to build a home where Jesus is seen, known, and followed.

But there is an even greater reason to make faith part of everyday life: we need to give the next generation something to carry. Psalm 78 reminds us of our responsibility to tell the next generation about the goodness, power, and faithfulness of God so they can place their hope in Him and pass that faith on to those who come after them.

• Look for opportunities to bring Jesus into the ordinary moments of family life.
• Give the next generation something to carry by intentionally passing our faith on to them.
• Above everything else, give them Jesus—the hope our families, church, and world need.

This message reminds us that we are all handing something to the next generation. The question is: What are we giving them to carry?
